Summer Hockey @ the Superturf

Our UWAHC Summer Juniors Friday night competition was another outstanding success, with over 40 teams registered. These included the little J1/2 and J3/4 teams starting at 4.15pm, up to the open division with the teenagers showing their skills well into the evening.

Thank you to all the UWA juniors and supporters, as well as players and parents from surrounding clubs who supported the competition. Keen Uni juniors volunteered to umpire each week. Thanks for your support umpires, a very important role you all play. Julia and Sonya added enormous atmosphere around the clubrooms, with their wonderful theme evenings and decorations. We had a Halloween and a Christmas evening with everyone’s favourite, piñata’s, and prizes for the best dressed teams on these nights. Tiki organized our pasta dinners and UWA hockey clubrooms were the place to be for dinner on Friday nights.

We would also like to thank all teams for the wonderful support and contributions they offered to the “Give a gift to Santa” at Christmas. We were amazed at the terrific items you had put into your shoe boxes for the kids in Cambodia. Thank you all. Thanks to Baus, Trid and TP for their support on the sausage sizzle and raffle.

The 8 week competition was heaps of fun and Dan Beech won the award for most games played on one night, with a total of 4 games on the last night! Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year, and look forward to catching up again in 2012 at the Uni clubrooms.
