Blues

Blues are considered the highest honor universities can bestow upon outstanding student athletes for not only their athletic abilities, but also their contributions to the university and their respective clubs throughout the year.

UWA Blues are one of UWA's oldest and most prestigious traditions, awarded by the UWA Sports Council to UWA student athletes since 1921, including many notable Australian sportspeople.

Champion Club

The Champion Club Trophy, inaugurated in 1958 shall be awarded to the nominating UWA Affiliate Sport Club, which demonstrates excellence in the areas of: Participation, Performance, Inclusion.

Sports Star of the Year

The Sports Star of the Year Award was first presented in 1957, and since then more than 60 students have received this award and have built a legacy in sport and their communities. This award is open to currently enrolled UWA Students whom the Awards Committee considers to be the most outstanding sports person attending UWA for that calendar year and who exhibited moral force of character, leadership and an interest in his/her fellow sportspersons.

Coach of the Year

The Coach of the Year award recognises the outstanding contribution of those that work tirelessly behind the scenes and is awarded to the coach of a UWA Affiliated Sports Club who has demonstrated excellence in the areas of performance, participation and inclusivity over the past 12 months.

Club Letter

This award is only open to individuals who are not currently enrolled as UWA Students, but may be eligible for an award given their outstanding service to a UWA Affiliate Sport Club by achieving at least one of the following criteria; (a) Excellence in sporting standards (standards equal to a Full Blue) in international, national or local competition. (b) Demonstration of significant contribution to his/her UWA Affiliate Sport Club (c) Involvement in the promotion, development and betterment of University Sport beyond the call of a normal position in a sports club; either as a player or administrator. Because this award is at the discretion of the UWAHC please see the list of recipients under Life Members/Club Letters.

Club Service Award

The Club Service Award is made eligible to a current UWA student who, in the opinion of Awards Committee, have satisfied the following criteria; (a) Has been a UWA Affiliate Sport Club administrator (coach, events coordinator, club committee member, etc) for at least 3 years. (b) Participated in UWA Sport Club competitions while studying at UWA for at least 3 years. (c) Where a player does not complete the season owing to injury, his/her nomination for an award shall be considered equally with that of a person who has completed the season, provided that he/she has had opportunity to show his/her ability.

Volunteer of the Year

UWA Sport awards the Volunteer of the Year award to recognise the incredible volunteers that are key drivers and contributors to sport at the University and within the wider community. It is awarded to a currently enrolled student or member of a UWA Affiliated Sports Club who has made an exceptional contribution to their club or the University sport environment in a volunteer capacity. Awarded since 2023. Volunteer of the Year is to be awarded on the discretion of the Awards Committee based on the following criteria for the previous 12 months. The award is not necessarily awarded to the person with the most volunteering hours. The person has made an exceptional contribution to their UWA Sport affiliated club and/or the university sport environment. a) The person has contributed to a positive culture in their sporting environment. The person has demonstrated initiative in their volunteering pursuits. c) The person demonstrates UWA Sport Values, moral force of character, leadership, and support of fellow sportspersons (if applicable).
