Soaks Women

At the University Associates Women’s Hockey Club Inc, we are keen on playing hockey but no so keen on training.We like to win but having fun is more of a priority.

We started in 1987 as a single team of (mainly) former UWA Women’s Hockey Club players whose playing peak had passed.They wanted to still play hockey, didn’t want to occupy spots in teams that up-and-coming players could fill.The club culture initiated by that first team of ‘Soaks Women’ has endured.We remain the ‘go to’ club for female ex-Uni hockey players who wish to relax into the game and retain close links to UWAHC.Soaks Men provides the same option for males.This means UWAHC can remain a true student club while their ex-players can stay in the game and keep playing hockey into their dotage.

We have no formal selection or trial process.Our teams are self-sorted groups of friends with a bit of movement each year based on self-assessed fitness, ability and team needs. Each year, a few spots in our teams become available.

MEMBER CATEGORIES

• Full-time player: all games in registered comp/s; fill-in for free 5x in another comp
• Half-time player: 10 games in registered comp/s; fill-in for free 5x in another comp
• Social player: 5 games per season for any teams
